Our Hunt's Point Community Classroom provides a space for licensed providers and parents to go with children to experience Jumpstart's curriculum.Įach October, Jumpstart's Read for the Record, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, brings millions of individuals together on one day to celebrate literacy and support Jumpstart in efforts to promote quality early education. Jumpstart Germantown works to revitalize the Germantown section of Philadelphia, and surrounding communities, through real estate development training. In the Hunt's Point Area of the Bronx, we hold monthly community events where we read and distribute books and engage local children in fun and targeted activities. The NY Readers Program engages adult volunteers in serving over 400 children in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Harlem and the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. These Corps members will serve over 1,200 young children in 30 early learning centers in New York. In New York, this year Jumpstart is partnering with 12 higher education institutions to recruit and train over 460 college Corps members. Nationally, Jumpstart engaged over 3,000 adults and served over 9,000 children within the last year! Jumpstart uses college students and community members to provide supplemental curriculum and classroom support to children ages 3 through 5 in lower-income areas.
